I remember weighing myself a few months back (January 17, 2017) and seeing that I was 180 and I had surpassed my goal weight of 190. I screamed, yelled, cried and "Diddy" bopped at my progression. At this point I was weighing myself once a month but had decided to not take my own advice and started weighing myself once a week. January 17-January 24, 2017 I lost absolutely NOTHING then again from January 24-January 31, 2017 the same results. This happened for a total of 1 month and February 19, 2017 I had lost 2 pounds. This can be very frustrating and upsetting. The truth of the matter is I had hit a stall/plateau.
Contrary to what many believe it is actually normal to have a weight loss stall. A weight loss stall or plateau is a period of time during where there is no weight loss according to the scale and there may be no loss of inches according to the tape measure. It is expected and it is needed for your body. It is important for you to understand that you will not be losing weight every single day nor every single week. At times, weight stalls may last over a month.
If you have had a weight loss stall for some time, to help yourself to restart with the weight loss, you should start by cutting down the carbs (I actually eliminate them during this time). After 4 pm when you have plateaued you should be eliminating carbs. Carbs before bedtime actually triggers insulin and initiates fat storage. Focus on cardiovascular exercise like running, jogging, cycling, elliptical machine etc. Watch what you eat and be careful not to snack unless it is healthy. During this time you have to think twice before choosing what to eat. You should also keep track of your water intake. An adequate level of water in the body aids in the effective breakdown of fat. The daily minimum recommendation is 64 fluid ounces of water a day. If you are doing all of these things chances are YOU WILL BREAK THAT DAMN STALL!!
